Theory of truth by Alfred tarsky

semantic theory of truth (STT, hereafter) was developed by Alfred Tarski in the 1930s. The theory has two separate, although interconnected, aspects. First, it is a formal mathematical theory of truth as a central concept of model theory, one of the most important branches of mathematical logic. Second, it is also a philosophical doctrine which elaborates the notion of truth investigated by philosophers since antiquity. In this respect, STT is one of the most influential ideas in contemporary analytic philosophy. This article discusses both aspects.
The STT is designed to define truth without circularity and to satisfy certain minimal conditions that must be met by any adequate theory of truth.
STT as a formal construction is explicated via set theory and the concept of satisfaction. The prevailing philosophical interpretation of STT considers it to be a version of the correspondence theory of truth that goes back to Aristotle. This theory is presented here in its modern shape, that is, as associated with first-order logic. Tarski’s original account used the elementary theory of classes (a theory similar to the simple theory of types).
One of Tarski's most important result was to show that a theory of truth for set theory cannot be given within set theory itself, and that any truth definition for a formal language L must be given in a language which is essentially stronger than L.https://www.iep.utm.edu/s-truth/

What is semantic???

Good evening guys,🌜🌜 on this occasion I will give a little explanation about semantics.πŸ’―πŸ‘πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Semantics is an intuitive understanding of words through signs or symbols that are developed into meaning and produce levels of language analysis.

According to Chomsky in his first book (1957), Semantics is examining symbols or signs that state the meaning of one meaning and another and their influence on the meaning of words. Semantics is linguistics that discusses the meaning or meaning which is one of the levels of language analysis.

thank you for reading don't forget to comment 😊

What does in syntax study

In general, syntax means a set of grammar rules for words or clauses in forming sentences. Usually, in written sentences and conversations, we see syntax elements in words or clauses that we usually refer to as subject, verb, and object.

Subject, verb, and object in syntax rules are always sequential. At the same time, in some cases, syntax rules allow other words or clauses such as adverbs or information that clarify subject, verb, and object to add.

There are two parts of the sentence that are very important in analyzing the syntax, namely: phrases and clauses.

Phrase
Phrase is a group of words that functions as a unit in a sentence (a group of words that forms a grammatical unit). Phrase is divided into several, that is;

1.Phrase Noun

The noun phrase is a phrase that comes from the noun (nouns) that serves as the subject or object of the sentence. The noun phrase is a nominal or pronominal preceded by a determinant or a word of clothing or a noun preceded by one or more adjectives that are entirely preceded by the word clothing. Example:

1) The Doctor

   det noun
2) A beautiful girl

det adjective noun

2. Verb Phrase

The verb phrase is a phrase that consists of a mixture of verbal verbs. The verb phrase is a verbal phrase. The verb phrase consists of a single phrase that is sometimes a combination of main verbs and auxiliary verbs, but may also be added specifiers, complements, and adjuncts. Example:

Binar has taken the job.

          aux verb

He has been coming late everyday.

      aux verb

  3. Adjective Phrase

A noun phrase or adjective is a phrase derived from the adjective used to attribute the noun or pronouns.

Tony lost his dark brown briefcase.

                          AdjP

4. Adverbial phrase (Adverb Phrase)

The adverbial phrase is a phrase that serves as a verb used to describe the verb (verbs).

Mika usually gets up early.
AdvP

5. Prepositional Phrase

The book on the bathroom floor is swollen from shower steam.
Prep.P

Clause
The free clause (main clause) is a free clause (inherent clause) contained in a complex sentence.

1.Independent Clause
The free clause is a clause that has a complete structure and has the potential to be a major sentence.

 2.Dependendent clause

A bound clause is a clause that has an incomplete structure, usually accompanied by elements of subordinative conjunction. A bound clause can also be defined as a clause that can not stand alone as a perfect sentence, only has potential as an incomplete sentence. Viewed from its function, these bound clauses can be distinguished, namely;

- Noun Clause
The clause that acts as a noun is characterized by the existence of wh-words, how, and that.

-Adjective Clause
The bound clause that acts as an adjective is characterized by the relative pronoun, which is, whom, which, which, and that.

-Adverbial Clause
Tied Klusa acting as adverbial marked with subordinate conjunction.

Lexicology

Lexicology (from Greek: lexiko-, "lexicon") is a branch of linguistics that studies words, properties and meanings, elements, relationships between words (semantics), groups of words, and the overall lexicon.https://id.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leksikologi

*NB
lexis:the total stock of words in a language

lexicon: the vocabulary of a person, language, or branch of knowledge

lexical:relating to the words or vocabulary of a language.

lexeme: a basic lexical unit of a language, consisting of one word or several words, considered as an abstract unit, and applied to a family of words related by form or meaning.

The example of lexicology:

1. • Apple
       that's mean one apple
     • Apples
that's mean more than one apple        (lots of apple)

2. • I am very responsible and never          wash my hand even for a bit

" Wash my hands" mean take off          responbility

       • I always wash my hands before           take something to eat

"wash my hands" mean clean               hands with water

3.  The word " EMPTY" has various           meanings in its use, including:

      - The coffin was empty
That's mean there is no content

       - The words are empty
          Thats mean doesn't contain
           anything important or valuable

Links of Lexicology with other branches of Linguistics

The main object of lexicology is the word. But the word is not the object only and exclusively of lexicology. It is also studied by many other branches of linguistics, such as phonetics, grammar (including Morphology and Syntax), Stylistics, Sociolinguistics, Dialectology, Phraseology, Derivatology and Etymology.
Phonetics investigates, in particular, the outer sound form of the word, its phonetic structure. These data are important for Lexicology to delimitate words in utterances.
Morphology studies the morphological composition of words and such information is significant for Lexicology to differentiate simple words from derived and compound ones and ascertain word-formation elements of the latter and distinguish world-building affixes from inflectional morphemes.
Syntax explores the relations of words in word-combinations and sentences. Syntactic information is necessary for distinguishing compound words from free or set combinations of words and reveal syntactic relations between constituent parts of compounds or composites.

Stylistics is concerned with the study of the nature, function and structure of stylistic devices and language styles; therefore, it provides Lexicology with certain data about the stylistic content of words, their emotional and evaluative charge and helps classify vocabulary into different stylistic layers.
Sociolinguistics explores the relationship between society and language, their interinfluence; therefore, it supplies information for ethnic, national, demographic, cultural, social and professional classification of vocabulary and its usage by language-speakers of different classes and groups of society.
Dialectology reveals the differentiation of vocabulary into regional, territorial and local forms as well as national varieties.
Phraseology is now an autonomous branch of linguistics that helps reveal the meaning and function of a separate word in set expressions and idioms.
Derivatology is a modern young science that studies the process of derivation of any linguistic unit from other linguistic units; therefore, it helps reveal the formation of words, their structural and semantic changes, the process of borrowing from other languages.
Etymology and History of Language helps restore the prototype form and meaning of the word and trace the morphological and semantic changes which this word has undergone from the hypothetical root up to the present form.
So, as a conclusion, we may say that Lexicology is an integral part of the Science of Language, along with the above mentioned ones.
